Smart grid security & privacy seminar

In the Netherlands on 6th December 2010 Joe Weiss, of Applied Control Solutions, will be presenting on control system cyber security including his thoughts on the implications of Stuxnet.

Smart grid security & privacy seminar 6th December 2010
He held the first public discussions on Stuxnet with Roel Schouwenberg from Kaspersky, Ralph Langner, and Siemens at the ACS Control Systems Cyber Security Conference on 23rd September 2010. "I do not believe appropriate attention is being paid to the PLC issues," he says. "This is beyond Symatec and other IT researchers.  I also do not believe Stuxnet can be eradicated from the controller.  A Stuxnet-type attack is also not unique to Siemens or PLCs."

Without recognizing Stuxnet, he has addressed this type of attack in my book, Protecting Industrial Control Systems from Electronic Threats (ISBN: 978-1-60650-197-9). There are approximately 20 actual control system case histories in the book. More continue to occur - there have been two this year in North America that have actually killed people
