Beamex, ISA’s Premier Strategic Partner for calibration, has donated $4,155.00 to ISA’s Process Measurement & Control Division (PMCD) educational scholarship fund.
The contribution is derived from a successful training event—2016 Best Calibration Practices: Interactive Workshop—that was co-hosted by ISA and Beamex last month (Aug 2016) at the Space Center Houston in Houston, (TX USA). The workshop brought engineers and technicians together to share ideas and learn the best techniques for streamlining calibration processes and troubleshooting when unanticipated situations arise in the field.
The event, in its second year, was well attended and received highly positive feedback from attendees. Beamex had previously announced that a portion of the revenue generated from the August workshop would be submitted to ISA’s PMCD to help support the division’s scholarship fund. However, Beamex recently made the decision to donate all of its revenue from the event to the division’s scholarship fund.
Furthermore, Beamex announced today that all registration fees collected from the upcoming Strategic Automation Leadership Conference, to be held 12 October 2016 at ISA’s headquarters in North Carolina, also will be donated toward the division’s educational scholarships. The October conference is targeted to managers and executives seeking to enhance processes and achieve operational excellence—in both financial management and plant safety.
“ISA wholeheartedly thanks Beamex for its generous donation to the PMCD scholarship fund and for pledging to donate additional monies generated at the October leadership conference. These contributions will be earmarked for much-needed educational gifts to undergraduate and graduate students studying or seeking to study process measurement and control,” states Patrick Gouhin, ISA’s Executive Director & CEO. “Our partnership with Beamex has been so very successful because it’s built on a joint commitment to education and training, and to advance the future of automation. These donations are reflective of that commitment as they will help deserving young people gain the education needed to pursue and obtain rewarding careers in the automation field.”
“For over 40 years, the Beamex mission has been to focus strongly and consistently on calibration. We know that we can only accomplish this by investing in people. In light of the aging automation workforce and the lack of skilled workers, it’s critical—now more than ever before—to invest in and support talented young people seeking a career in the field of automation,” says Greg Sumners, President of Beamex, Inc. “We are proud to seize this opportunity to contribute and donate to ISA, an association that has long provided valuable educational funds to aspiring automation professionals.”
The donations will fund scholarships awarded to college or university students who demonstrate outstanding potential for long-range contribution to the fields of automation and control. They support tuition and related expenses and research activities and initiatives.
