The Ginsbury Genie is a low power system, complete with a fully integrated TFT display, that offers the flexibility, ease of use and PC compatibility combined with robustness and longevity that is necessary in many industrial and embedded applications.

The Ginsbury Genie is a bespoke, high reliability, embedded computer based on a dual core 1.46GHz Intel Atom E38xx 64-bit processor that implements a low power, fan-less design that boasts a power consumption of typically less than 10Watts (depending on usage). Up to 2GB of system memory is available, with an on-board SATA SDD providing storage capacity starting at 32GB. Support for a range of different connectivity and expansion options include: Mini PCI-Express card slot for additional peripherals, one USB 3.0 port, three USB 2.0 ports, RS-232 serial port, Gigabit Ethernet port and a Micro SD card slot. A user defined expansion header can also be used for general purpose I/O, I2C, SPI or UART.

Neville Milward, director, Ginsbury said, "We are experiencing an increasing demand for a cost-effective, easy-to-use embedded computing solution. Following consultation with a number of lead customers and suppliers, we have designed and developed the first Ginsbury Genie embedded computing platform. Ginsbury Genie brings genuine PC compatibility into a truly embedded product."

Milward continued, "Potential customers can benefit from an embedded computing platform that offers full PC compatibility, low power consumption and a compact mechanical footprint. The Ginsbury Genie offers a genuine alternative to more expensive PC-based systems, while still offering support for a wide range of Windows software which is paramount for companies with an investment in legacy software."

The Ginsbury Genie GGE38-xxx is supplied with a fully integrated TFT LCD display module driven via a dual-channel LVDS interface. A range of LCD panels is supported, including 7.0” WVGA (800 x 480), 10.4” SVGA (800 x 600), 12.1” XGA (1024 x 768), 15” XGA (1024 x 768) and 17.3” Full HD (1920 x 1080). An integrated touchscreen controller supports 4 and 5-wire resistive touch panels. Support for other display sizes, resolutions and touchscreen technologies can be provided on request.
