Industrial box thin clients.

The industrial box thin clients from Pepperl+Fuchs are a reliable and rugged generation of computers for visualizing process information. They have been specially developed for use in harsh conditions and 24/7 operation in industrial environments.

Designed to withstand high temperatures, shocks, and vibrations over long periods, the new BTC14, and the already familiar thin clients BTC12—designed for dual-monitor applications—and BTC01—the first quad-monitor generation.

The BTC14 has four digital uniform DisplayPorts®, enabling processes to be visualized on up to four Ultra-HD (4K) screens, thus giving an optimal overview of all information. Thanks to additional mounting kits and its rugged design, the BTC14 can be installed in a hugely varied number of ways. The long-term availability and the modern computer platform make the BTC14 future-proof. The preinstalled Pepperl+Fuchs VisuNet RM Shell 5 firmware simplifies both virtualizing host systems and performing quick and intuitive configuration.

The Thin Client portfolio is rounded off by the innovative VisuNet Control Center management tool, which enables efficient and centralized management of all Thin Client devices when used with the RM Shell 5 firmware: from the BTCs in the control room and production-related workstations to remote monitors in the field in Ex Zone 1/21.

Manipulation-proof Thin Clients provide DRDC support.

R. Stahl HMI Systems is offering Thin Clients that support the DeltaV Remote Desktop connection (DRDC) and are therefore fully suitable for process plants run by Emerson’s DeltaV distributed control system.

Safe & efficient DeltaV operation - even for virtual systems
Flexible remote access is guaranteed even to virtualised control system installations. Many system operators are now able to configure, test and implement such setups fast and easily with the DeltaV Virtual Studio software. Running on a Virtual Machine (VM), the DCS featuring real-time diagnostics can be particularly flexibly reconfigured or expanded to meet project and process requirements. The DeltaV Remote Desktop Connection (DRDC) generally eliminates any possibility of conflict due to simultaneous access to the same control system server instance, thus providing a particularly high degree of reliability.

Their series 500 terminals fitted with Windows Embedded Standard 7 (WES7) also ensure optimum system integrity. They block all BIOS access via conventional hotkeys, and their parameterisation is password-protected. By means of Enhanced Write Filter (EWF) and Hibernate Once / Resume Many (HORM), the operating system furthermore enables the devices to automatically resume a defined, safe starting configuration – not only after a reboot, but even after waking from sleep mode. The mechanically robust Remote HMIs can be operated in safe environments as well as in hazardous zones 1, 21 and 2, 22. As an optional extra, the SK-LAN module is available to equip the devices with a second Ethernet interface to implement a redundant network architecture. In addition to DRDC, other established access protocols such as RDP, VNC and Netc@p are also supported.
