Manipulation-proof Thin Clients provide DRDC support.

R. Stahl HMI Systems is offering Thin Clients that support the DeltaV Remote Desktop connection (DRDC) and are therefore fully suitable for process plants run by Emerson’s DeltaV distributed control system.

Safe & efficient DeltaV operation - even for virtual systems
Flexible remote access is guaranteed even to virtualised control system installations. Many system operators are now able to configure, test and implement such setups fast and easily with the DeltaV Virtual Studio software. Running on a Virtual Machine (VM), the DCS featuring real-time diagnostics can be particularly flexibly reconfigured or expanded to meet project and process requirements. The DeltaV Remote Desktop Connection (DRDC) generally eliminates any possibility of conflict due to simultaneous access to the same control system server instance, thus providing a particularly high degree of reliability.

Their series 500 terminals fitted with Windows Embedded Standard 7 (WES7) also ensure optimum system integrity. They block all BIOS access via conventional hotkeys, and their parameterisation is password-protected. By means of Enhanced Write Filter (EWF) and Hibernate Once / Resume Many (HORM), the operating system furthermore enables the devices to automatically resume a defined, safe starting configuration – not only after a reboot, but even after waking from sleep mode. The mechanically robust Remote HMIs can be operated in safe environments as well as in hazardous zones 1, 21 and 2, 22. As an optional extra, the SK-LAN module is available to equip the devices with a second Ethernet interface to implement a redundant network architecture. In addition to DRDC, other established access protocols such as RDP, VNC and Netc@p are also supported.
