Weighing systems expansion in Europe

Rice Lake Weighing Systems has announced that their Arnhem-based European division, Rice Lake Weighing Systems Europe B.V., has acquired the Dutch belt-scale manufacturer Master Engineering, of nearby Heteren.

Rice Lake Weighing Systems is a family-owned, ISO 9001 certified corporation based in the United States. Its headquarters, metrology laboratory and main manufacturing plant are located in Wisconsin with support facilities throughout the world including North America, South America, India and the Netherlands.

Throughout The Netherlands and Belgium, Master Engineering has grown to become a key systems and solutions provider of static and dynamic weighing, batching and dosing systems. Rice Lake plans to retain all existing Master Engineering employees and continue manufacturing as normal, while relocating their Arnhem operations to the Master Engineering facility in Heteren.

Rice Lake Weighing Systems Europe B.V. opened in 2011 with the goal of better serving Rice Lake’s existing European customer base. The acquisition works well for the company’s long-term growth and expansion plans within Europe, as it enhances Rice Lake’s core competencies and establishes a manufacturing presence within the E.U. The acquisition also expands the current distribution network for both companies. Rice Lake looks forward to continued growth and expansion within the European market.

Having only recently cemented the details of a newly formed partnership within India, Rice Lake Weighing Systems (RLWS) have announced the opening of a fully staffed European distribution center. Rice Lake Weighing Systems Europe  B.V.  is now open in Arnhem (NL).

RLWS is a privately owned industrial scale manufacturer with roughly 400 US employees. The Rice Lake brand, recognized worldwide for everything from industrial weighing equipment to made-to-order process-control systems, is perhaps best known for a uniquely personal approach to service and customer contact.

The company has been part of CEO Mark Johnson’s family since 1946. “Our business was built on service— the ability to be responsive and stay connected with our customers. As we’ve grown, having this facility within Europe makes sense.
