The SEM1600T from Status Instruments accepts resistance or mV signals from RTD, Slidewire or Thermocouple sensors. The flexible design can accommodate Pt100, 500, 1000, Ni or Cu sensors, slide wire sensors up to 100 K Ohm and 13 different thermocouple types. Other sensor characteristics or your own 22 point linearisation characteristic (for slidewire, linear resistance or mV) can be downloaded into the product enabling you to adapt it exactly to your application.

The output stage offers either voltage, bipolar voltage or current re-transmission signals. The retransmission signal can be ranged to a scale anywhere within the input process range. A transmitter power supply is provided on the output meaning the product can accept sink or source mA applications. The voltage output will drive 2 mA into 5 KOhm @ 10 V.

For ease of use, a high efficiency switch mode power supply is fitted as standard and does not require any adjustment between ac or dc applications. Operating voltages are (10 to 48) V dc and (10 to 32) V ac.

New flexible temp. Tx gives user flexibility

Status Instruments has launched a new ‘smart’ temperature transmitter range that accepts resistance signals including RTD, Slidewire  or Thermocouple  sensors, and converts them to a standard industrial (4 to 20) mA transmission over a user programmed range.

With its flexible design, the TTR200 will accept more than 30 resistance sensors, including Pt100, Pt500, Pt1000, Ni types, Cu types and slidewire sensors up to 100K and resistance up to 10 Kohms. The TTC200 accepts 13 different thermocouples. In addition, Status has also provided the facility to download additional sensor characteristics as well as the user’s own 22 point linearisation table via the free programming software.

Zero offset adjustment and zero / span alignment to process is available to help minimise system errors. Input signal damping is also available to help slow the output (if required) for a very rapid rate of change of input signal.

PC configuration, which is performed quickly using Status’ USB port-driven configurator, allows the user to select sensor type, range, filter, Tag number, units and error signal without the need for calibration equipment.

Configuration set up may be saved as a PC file for later use. In addition the user may read live process data when connected to the PC allowing for sensor off-set calibration, where the user can offset the value to correct for any sensor offset.

If required the desired range can also be specified at the time of order, removing the need for user configuration.

A first in temp transmitters

Status Instruments' new HTR integrated head temperature transmitter is believed to be the first complete transmitter that fits into the miniature MAA connection head. Due to space constraints, the head is usually only used with a connection block, requiring the transmitter to be mounted some distance away from the sensor.

Status has pioneered miniature electronic design for its transmitters, without sacrificing the functionality of larger standard devices that would normally require more spacious KNE type heads. The HTR can be used with RTD, slide-wire and resistance inputs. The standard product has over 30 resistance sensors to choose from, including Pt100, Pt500, Pt1000, Ni100 and Ni1000.

Designed to meet the needs of both industrial and HVAC applications, the 3 wire voltage output version can be programmed to output any value between 0 and 10Vdc. For example, the product can be configured to accept Pt1000 sensors and provide a 0 to 10Vdc output direct from the head – ideal for HVAC applications.

To optimise the use of the built-in memory, application specific sensor linearisation correction data is loaded into the transmitter during user configuration, rather than being permanently stored in the unit. This means the design uses a microprocessor with a smaller memory and therefore contributes to a lower cost product.

Configuration is carried out quickly and easily via PC or laptop, using Status’ new USB configurator. Configuration can be saved as a file for future use and additionally the user can read live process data when connected to a PC.
