IS battery operated wireless sensors

The Massa Model M3 Family, marketed through Vydas,  consists of battery operated wireless level sensors that intercommunicate using ZigBee RF Modules. These sensors produce detection ranges from as close as 4 inches (100 mm) to 35 feet (11 meters). Incorporating state-of-the-art ultrasonic technology, the sensors provide precision non-contact distance measurement for liquid level or industrial process control applications.

The M3 Family of Wireless Level Sensors stand out over all other systems because of their affordability, extraordinary ease of operation and the ability to be set up without using a target. They transmit narrow beam sound pulses, process return echoes, and report the distance to the target. The M3 obtains and records range, temperature, battery voltage, sensor parameters, historical data and other information.

The package is rated for emersion and high pressure wash-down. The batteries are accessible for replacement. All of the sensors in the M3 Family are available in two versions. Standard M3 Sensors are designed for operation in typical industrial applications and the intrinsically safe M3is for use in hazardous environments.

Wireless US level

Vydas International Marketing has released the new Massa M3 and M3is Wireless Ultrasonic Level Sensors for tank level and precision distance measurement.

Manufactured by Massa Products Corporation, the M3 Zigbee enabled ultrasonic sensor design provides low cost non-contact ultrasonic distance measurement primarily for remote tank liquid level monitoring. The M3 wireless ultrasonic sensor is also available with IS Certification for Class 1 Division 1   (All Groups) Hazardous Locations.

Applications for this sensor include, liquid level control, mechanical positioning, roll diameter measurement, web loop/break monitoring, asset tracking, remote monitoring, automatic filling operation, automatic packaging, bulk level control, paper and plastic film processing and many others.

The M3 wireless ultrasonic sensors stand out because of their affordability and reliability. The sensor transmits narrow beam sound pulses, processes return echoes, and produces several outputs. The measurement output is then transmitted by low power Zigbee radio to a 'gateway' and the information is presented to the user via LAN, cellular, or web portal.

Operating on internal batteries with a typical life span of 3-5 years, the M3 family of sensors has a detection range of 4 inches foot to 30 feet. The distance measurement is transmitted via Digi International Xbee radios and gateway. The M3 sensor contains advance on board diagnostics as well as many user adjustable output settings including measurement sampling rate, radio transmission rate, averaging of multiple distance measurements as well as reporting battery voltage, temperature and other parameters.

The network also allows users to remotely program their sensors and read ranges for quick integration into their remote monitoring application. Other features of the M3 ultrasonic sensor include: chemically resistant Kynar housing with 2" NPS fitting for mounting, built-in temperature compensation, diagnostic and monitoring outputs.

The new lower cost rugged MassaSonic series M-300/150, M-320/150 (range 2.5M) and M-300/95, M-320/95 (range 4.5M) RoHS compliant smart ultrasonic sensors are now available from Vydas stock in Britain. Programmable switched outputs or analogue outputs of 0-10VDC and 4-20mA are now available.
