Serial-to-Wireless Devices for industrial networks.

Single- and dual-port wireless serial servers let system integrators connect, configure, and remotely manage.

STW-611C

The STW-611C and STW-612C serial-to-wireless devices have been unveiled by Antaira. They are engineered to give system integrators a fast, reliable way to bring legacy and modern serial equipment onto today's wireless networks. Both eliminate the need to run new Ethernet cable, unlocking serial connectivity in locations where a wired network drop simply isn't practical. The result is a dramatic drop in installation time, labor and cost, plus adaptability for technicians to deploy serial connectivity anywhere a network can't easily reach, from remote equipment closets to hard-to-reach industrial floors.

Versatile 3-way communication.
At the core of the STW-611C (one port) and STW-612C (two port) is a "bridge" mode that links any serial device and any Ethernet device to the same wireless network simultaneously. This is a true 3-way communication solution that gives integrators flexibility to mix legacy serial equipment with modern IP-based systems on a single wireless backbone.

For streamlined point-to-point deployments, both models are engineered with built-in Wi-Fi Direct technology — delivering instant, secure device-to-device connectivity with a single button press. Zero software configuration. Zero IT overhead. Zero downtime.

Built for industrial environments.
Antaira designed the STW-611C and STW-612C to survive in the industrial environments where they're deployed. Each unit ships in a compact, IP30-rated rugged aluminum case built to withstand dust and the everyday bumps of operations, and is rated to operate across a wide temperature range of -10° to 60° C for dependable performance in demanding environments. Power input is designed for 9~48VDC with reverse polarity protection to guard against wiring errors during installation, and both models mount via standard DIN-rail hardware, with optional wall-mount support for added installation flexibility.

Wireless serial connectivity matters.
Both models operate on the IEEE 802.11b/g/n standard in the 2.4GHz band, a near-universal wireless standard chosen for its long range and strong penetration through the walls, metal structures, and machinery typical of industrial facilities. For integrators, that translates into real operational advantages: legacy serial equipment — PLCs, sensors, meters, and older machine controllers — can join a modern IP-based network without being replaced or rewired, remote or hard-to-reach installations can be connected without the cost and labor of pulling new cable, and once online, that equipment can be configured, monitored, and troubleshot remotely rather than requiring a technician on-site.

Comprehensive feature set.
The STW-611C and STW-612C deliver true 3-way communication, linking any serial or Ethernet device to a wireless network, and both support Wi-Fi Direct technology for simple point-to-point setup. Wireless connectivity is IEEE 802.11b/g/n compliant, with WPA, WPA2, and 802.1x security to keep industrial networks protected. Each unit provides a software-selectable RS232/422/485 serial port alongside a 10/100Tx RJ45 Ethernet port, with a serial data throughput rate of 110~921.6Kbps.

For network integration, the devices support Virtual COM, TCP/UDP Server/Client, and Tunneling modes, and can be configured through a built-in web console or Antaira's Windows utilities, giving integrators a straightforward path to deployment regardless of their existing network architecture.

Antennas for the next generation.

Cellmax new 12- and 8t-port platforms ,1207xx and 1209xx, further enhance CellMax world record efficiency levels and allows for more than 18 dBi on the low band and up to 21.6 dBi on the midband. The first release of these new products goes from 698 to 2690 MHz and will later be released to support both L-band and 600.

Antenna Characteristics.
 12-Port / 8-Port Multiband Antennas
4 x 698-960MHz
8 x 1695-2690 MHz (8-port antennas: 4 x 1695-2690 MHZ)
Low band gain 18.2 dBi
High band gain 21.6 dBi
PIM -160dBc
Maximum coverage
Maximum indoor penetration
Maximum data transaction throughput and speed
With a higher antenna gain the coverage area is increased and fewer sites need to be deployed, rendering massive CAPEX and OPEX savings for the operators.

The increased mid/Hhgh-band coverage allows for a higher level of aggregation between the available frequency bands, allowing the subscribers to use more bandwidth and hence enjoy higher throughput levels.

Today, operators lose millions of kWh as heat in traditional base station antennas. By using the high-efficiency antennas from CellMax an operator can maintain today's coverage even if you decrease your output power on site. Allow for increased subscriber satisfaction and enhanced throughput during busy hours, and use the new features enabled by the triple band radio's to reduce transmitted power during off busy hours. Our antennas allow you not only to save the planet and associated cost while off-busy hours but still maintain great service and access to your customers.

Increased Satisfaction.
The improved traffic distribution between low band and mid band that comes with Cellmax antennas, allows for more connections, fewer dropped calls and higher throughput on the low band while increasing coverage, indoor penetration and data throughput on the high band. This means increased subscriber satisfaction and higher revenues.

Looking at the total costs of ownership end-to-end, this antenna is the natural choice. By improving coverage, frequency utilization and data throughput, this antenna improves and maximizes existing assets. The platform supports 4X4 MIMO for both mid band and low band.

Industrial network management software with wireless add-on.

The MXview Wireless add-on module for MOXA's MXview industrial network management software has been released. MXview streamlines network management by visualizing networks, helping non-IT staff simplify operations and improve network uptime. This software has successfully helped many customers from around the world in different industries, such as in power, intelligent transportation, and manufacturing. Today, with the rise of smart manufacturing, intelligent and reliable industrial network communication has become the cornerstone for nearly every smart application.

In response to the transformation of the industrial environment and increasing number of Wi-Fi applications, the new MXview Wireless add-on module fulfills the different requirements of both static and dynamic wireless applications in smart manufacturing. With reliable network communications as a foundation and real-time network management from a single pane of glass, business owners can focus on improving operational efficiency and achieving maximum system uptime.

Visualize Wi-Fi Networks for Optimal Operational Efficiency
Intelligent process control is a typical static wireless application in smart manufacturing where customers use Wi-Fi to establish the communication between the clients installed at production lines and the control centre.

However, an unstable wireless connection might lead to wrong decision-making due to incomplete on-site information or dropped connections, affecting optimal production processes. It’s often difficult to know the exact status of the Wi-Fi connection and fix issues immediately the moment they occur. The MXview Wireless add-on module simplifies network management by allowing users to get detailed device information and performance indicator charts for individual AP and client devices from the device dashboard.

“A major benefit of this module is that users can now view the wireless and wired network status from a single main control dashboard. This feature not only lets you quickly understand the network conditions of the factory, but also makes network management much easier.” says Lyra Li, product manager at Moxa.

Furthermore, users can monitor connectivity patterns and customize alert settings to immediately notify you of any problems. In turn, this allows engineers to perform on-site troubleshooting quickly and efficiently, ensuring maximum network availability.

Easy Troubleshooting for Maximum System Uptime
In automated material handling (AMH) systems, the Wi-Fi connections must be able to dynamically adapt to the constantly moving vehicles. An unstable wireless signal could easily disrupt the operation of these systems. However, wireless connections are invisible and affected by a lot of different factors. The MXview Wireless add-on features a dynamic topology view to let users see the status of wireless links and connection changes at a glance. Moreover, since automated vehicles constantly roam between different APs around the facility, users can overlay the network topology on top of a floor map of the facility to easily locate the vehicle by just checking the client’s wireless connection. This helps save a great deal of time when trying to identify a malfunctioning client device. “The roaming playback function lets users review a client’s roaming history of the past 30 days to repeat an incident. Users can leverage this function to find and address the root cause more efficiently, instead of having to consolidate and examine individual device logs.” says Lyra. Exclusively developed by Moxa, these two functions are specially designed to fulfill the growing requirements of automated factories, smart logistics, and other intelligent applications.
