Instrumentation scholarship awarded.

The winner of the 2021 ProComSol Instrumentation Scholarship Program this year is Jaxon Few of Oklahoma (USA).

Jeffrey Dobos, President of ProComSol stated “We received a record number of applicants this year. Jaxon’s essay stood out from the rest and it was an easy decision for the scholarship committee. I wish Jaxon success in his Instrumentation studies and with his future career in the process industry.”

Jaxon grew up in a small town in southeastern Oklahoma. He was raised on a small cattle ranch where his family raises and sells cattle. In high school he participated in sports and FFA (Future Farmers of America). He is currently enrolled in the Instrumentation program at Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology and looks forward to a rewarding career in instrumentation.

Instrumentation scholorship announced.

ProComSol has announced the continuation of the ProComSol Instrumentation Scholarship Program. This year the award will be $1500. According to Jeffrey Dobos, President of ProComSol, Ltd, “There is a definite industry need for more technical personnel. The program is designed to support those already pursuing the necessary education to join the ranks of instrumentation professionals.”

Interested candidates should visit the site here which has the requirements and the application form. The deadline for submission is November 1, 2020 with the award announced on December 1, 2020. The winner can use the funds for the winter 2021 school term.

They encourage colleges and universities to promote this program to their students. Promotional materials and other help reaching students are available.

ProComSol intends to continue and grow this program to make awards every semester. Hopefully both students and education administrators will take advantage of this program.

Water & Wastewater scholorship awards.

The ISA Water & Wastewater Industries Division (WWID) has announced the winners of the 2020 ISA WWID Michael Fedenyszen* Memorial Student Scholarship. The scholarships are given out to promote higher learning and to encourage students to pursue technical careers in the municipal water/wastewater sector.

This year’s recipients are Roaa Elgamal and Chance Becker. Each will receive a $1000 USD scholarship prize to help with their school costs. Please join us in congratulating this year’s winners!

Roaa Elgamal University of Texas – San Antonio (UTSA), Texas, USA Roaa Elgamal is a transfer Computer Engineering student studying at the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA). She expects to graduate June 2022. Before transferring to UTSA, Roaa was a student at the University of Ottawa, Canada, where she studied Computer Engineering for two years. Her skills include programming with C, Python, and Java. In her spare time, Roaa enjoys swimming and drawing. “I would like to thank you and thank the ISA Water/Wastewater Industries Division for awarding me the 2020 ISA WWID Michael Fedenyszen Memorial Student Scholarship to pursue my undergraduate studies. This scholarship will advance my education and encourage me to further my efforts towards Water/Wastewater Industries.”

Chance Becker Perry Technical Institute Yakima, Washington, USA Chance Becker is a first-year student at Perry Technical Institute in the Instrumentation/Industrial Automation program. He has worked in ranging professions from whitewater rafting guide on the rivers in Washington state to oil tank cleaner in Alaska and even a carpenter building homes in northern Idaho. He lives in Yakima, Washington with his wife, Tivoli, where they enjoy the outdoors, family and friends when they are not too busy studying. “Thank you for taking the time to read my scholarship application. I startled my wife with my excitement when I read the email. Thank you for awarding this scholarship to assist me further in my college experience so that I can learn more about the things I love and find so interesting. This is the very first scholarship I’ve ever been granted, and it is such an honor to be receiving such a wonderful gift. Thank you again.”

2020 WWID Michael Fedenyszen* Memorial Scholarship.

The ISA water/wastewater division (WWID) has announced the 2020 ISA WWID Student Scholarship Program. Students can apply by filling out the application form and attaching a 200-word essay on why they should win, a copy of their academic transcript and confirmation of enrollment.

Winners of 2019 WWID  Student Scholarships

The Division will award up to $2000 (ca €1820)of scholarship money to encourage WWID members and their sons/daughters to pursue higher education. In addition, winners will receive a complementary 2 year student ISA membership.

Deadline: 
Applications are due by postal mail or email by January 31, 2020.

Winners will be notified by February 28, 2020 via telephone and email, and will be required to provide a photo and short biography that can be used for publicity reasons.

Scholarship money will be distributed by cheque and mailed after the winner is contacted and has supplied the required photo/bio. Scholarships will be awarded at the sole discretion of the WWID scholarship committee, with preference being given to students enrolled in technical programs that lead to careers in the water/wastewater sector.

Michael Fedenyszen was an ISA member from 1977 to his early death in 2017. He was active with the Boston Section Executive Board since 1990 elected and appointed to many leadership positions there including Section President.

In the the ISA district covering New England (USA), Michael held positions of District Vice President where he was Vice-chair of the Council of DVP’s as well,as other organisational positions.
He was a Director of the WWID where he served as Facilitator, H&A Chairman and Symposium Awards Chairman. He also was active in the ISA Publications Department serving on the InTech, Editorial Advisory Board, and as Director of Books. Michael was also a member of the Standards & Practices committee S&P105.
While WWID Division Director in 2010 he promoted the division scholarship program and advanced the first WWID Scholarship, and on behalf of the WWID received the societies Industry & Science Department Most Improved Division Award.
He was a recipient of the ISA Distinguished Society Service Award.

Educational scholorships in automation.

The International Society of Automation (ISA) is accepting applications for its wide range of 2017 educational scholarships, which will be awarded to college and university students who demonstrate outstanding potential for long-range contributions in the fields of automation, instrumentation and control. Application deadline 15 Feb 2017 ISA educational scholarships—which fund tuition, related expenses and research initiatives—are distributed annually to undergraduate students at two-year and four-year colleges and universities, and to graduate students. More than 65,000 in scholarship funds are expected to be distributed in 2017. Top awards are given to two undergraduate winners. Scholarship award amounts will vary. Interested students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible by submitting a completed application form.  The application deadline is 15 February 2017. Scholorships announced

ASCO Numatics has announced at the ISA Automation Week's Yapfest event the recipients of the 2010/2011 ASCO Numatics Industrial Automation Engineering Scholarships. Nicole Legenski of Blandon, Pennsylvania and Karl Kirsch of West Lafayette, Indiana will each receive a $5,000 scholarship. Additionally, ASCO Numatics will make $1,000 grants to the engineering departments of Pennsylvania State University and Purdue University, the schools which Legenski and Kirsch, respectively attend.

“This is the third year that ASCO Numatics has offered this scholarship program and we continue to be impressed by the caliber of applicants,” said Robert W. Kemple, Jr., executive vice president, sales and marketing - Americas, ASCO Numatics. “Through their academic and personal achievements Nicole and Karl have demonstrated potential for leadership and innovation in the industrial automation industry and we are very proud to support them.”

Legenski is a junior at Pennsylvania State University studying for a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Kirsch is working toward a master’s degree in mechanical engineering at Purdue University. He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 2009.

The scholarship awards were presented at the annual ISA Young Automation Professionals Festival (YAPFEST). YAPFEST is part of the 2010 ISA Automation Week: Technology and Solutions event held at the Westin Galleria Complex in Houston. ISA hosts YAPFEST for automation professionals between ages 18 and 30.

The scholarships are awarded annually based on the candidate’s potential for leadership and for making a significant contribution to the engineering, instrumentation, systems, electrical, mechanical, and automation professions, particularly as they relate to the application of fluid control and fluid power technology. A panel of ASCO Numatics and independent judges selected the finalists.

Automation scholorships

The International Society of Automation (ISA) is now accepting applications for its 2011 ISA Educational Foundation Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to students worldwide in two- and four-year colleges and universities, and graduate students, who demonstrate outstanding potential for long-range contribution to the fields of automation, instrumentation, and control. The scholarships support tuition and related expenses and research activities and initiatives. The recipients will be chosen at ISA’s annual Spring Leaders Meeting in 2011 which is scheduled for St Louis (MO US).

Scholarships of $5,000 are provided to the top two undergraduate students, while the amounts of the other scholarships vary. More than $62,000 was awarded to the 2010 recipients.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in an instrumentation, systems, or automation discipline (two-year program or four-year baccalaureate program or its equivalent) at an educational institution in their country of residence. Two-year-program applicants must have completed at least one academic semester or 12 semester hours or the equivalent. Four-year-degree program applicants must be in the sophomore year or higher of their study, or the equivalent, at the time of application. Also, applicants must be full-time students and have an overall grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Contributions to the ISA Educational Foundation come from the following sources: Norman E. Huston Endowment, the Paros-Digiquartz Fund, the Bob and Mary Ives Endowment, the Wilbanks scholarship, the ISA Chemical and Petroleum Industries Division Endowment, the ISA Food and Pharmaceutical Industries Division Endowment, the ISA Executive Board Scholarship, ISA Life Members Committee Scholarship, ISA Section and District Scholarships, the General Education Fund, and others.
