PSU expanded range.

SL Power Electronics SLPE has expanded their next generation range of dual certified internal power supplies with the introduction of the GB Series 10, 20-, 30-, 40-, 60 and 130-Watt families. The GB Series has been designed to offer superior performance and minimise the effort required for system integration across many markets and applications including test and measurement, medical, lighting, and industrial.

The newly developed GB product families come in 10-watt, 20-watt, 30-watt, 40-watt and 60-watt configurations with output voltages ranging from 5V to 24V. These units are approved to medical and industrial safety standards: EN/IEC/UL60601-1, 3rd edition (with 2 MOPP isolation), and EN/IEC/UL62368-1. In addition, they are designed to meet the EMC requirements per UL/EN/IEC60601-1-2, 4th edition (Heavy Industrial levels of EN61000-4-x standards). They feature a universal input range of 90 to 264Vac over the wide operating temperature range of -20°C to +70°C, delivering full rated output power up to +40°C and applicable output power derating up to 70°C. These models are available as an open frame or PCB mount for greater flexibility.

Further extending the range is the GB130Q-C 3” x 5” footprint feature rich family of highly efficient, quad output power supplies, developed specifically for next-generation applications with medical 4th Edition and heavy industrial levels of EMC performance. Available open frame or covered the GB130Q-C offers a range of output voltage combinations, a 5V standby output, remote inhibit and power fail/DC OK signal. The screw-less design, with no topside heatsink allows for a more automated assembly, increasing system reliability and reducing manufacturing costs.

Gary Baker, UK Country Manager for SL Power, comments, “Our next generation power supply families have been designed to offer system builders effortless integration, helping them to create reliable end products. By meeting Class B emissions by a good margin less additional testing and filtering is required and built-in protection against operating in unstable conditions and the use of high-quality electrolytic capacitors, running below their ESR ratings, helps extend the life of the end equipment minimising down-time. We provide real time technical support and a global presence, assisting our customer’s international development and manufacturing requirements.”

The SL Power Electronics product range extends from 10 to 3,000-watt internal power supplies as well as a broad range of Level VI Tier 2 6-watt to 240-watt external power supplies. Customers have access to world-class electromechanical components and 60+ years of experience in the designing and manufacturing of high-performance power solutions.

SL Power local technical support capabilities provide real-time help in solving potential design problems which could otherwise cause revenue loss due to delays in end product introduction. Their extensive global presence can support customers product needs as they migrate from development to production, frequently in multiple locations around the world.

PSU to medical and industrial standards.

Premium External Power Supply Family approved to both medical and Industrial/ITE standards to meet the needs of virtually any application.

The TE and ME family of compact, efficient and high reliability external power supplies are now available from SL Power Electronics. The TE series is approved to Industrial/ITE standards and the ME meets medical requirements, and between them they meet the needs of a very wide range of applications.

Gary Baker, UK Country Manager for SL Power, commented, "Opportunities for the use of this premium line of external power supplies continues to grow and diversify. Our TE and ME series provide an off the shelf solution for the vast majority of customers and as they are an in-house design, we can meet demands for modification of output voltages, connector types, cable length and full customisation to meet a user’s specific needs."

Nine model ranges are available with standard output voltages from 5 – 48VDC depending on model and custom voltages are available to order. Applications include computers and tablets, set-top boxes, gaming consoles, modems, robotics, automation, medical instrumentation and test and measurement products.

Key specifications include a desktop style package rated to IP22, universal input voltage range, 3-year warranty, electrolytic capacitor life of >7years, meets EN55011/CISPR11, FCC Part 15.109 Class B Conducted and Radiated Emissions with 6db Margin, approved to EN/IEC/UL60601-1 3rd Edition with isolation levels which satisfy the 2 x MOPP requirements and meets DoE Efficiency Level VI Requirements (no Load Input Power, average efficiency).

Efficient PSUs for medical & industrial applications.

The GB130Q family of highly efficient, 130W quad output power supplies in a 3" X 5" Open frame form factor is now available from SL Power Electronics. Rich in features and developed specifically for next-generation applications the screw-less design with no topside heatsink allows for a more automated assembly, increasing system reliability and reducing system costs.

The GB130Q carries dual safety certification complying to both Medical (IEC/UL60601-1, 3rd Edition) and Industrial/ITE (IEC/UL62368) safety standards within the same unit. This notable attribute of the GB130Q family of products simplifies sourcing requirements and when paired with a design optimised for seamless integration, the GB130Q stands out as the ultimate solution for virtually any application.

It is constructed with the highest quality components, such as long-life electrolytic capacitors and the power supply design ensures that these components are not pushed to their maximum output ratings. For example, the long-life electrolytic capacitors operate below their threshold and ESR ratings in extending the life of the end equipment and minimising field service needs.

The power supply is also available with a cover, GB130Q-C, and both versions have a wide range of output combinations, a 5V standby output, remote inhibit via contact closure and power fail/DC OK signal. Meeting Class B conduced and radiated EMI with a high degree of margin simplifies system design by reducing/eliminating the need for external filtering.

Gary Baker, UK Country Manager for SL Power, comments, "Medical technology continues to evolve and make ever greater demands from power supplies. Our GB130Q series offers an extended feature set, class leading efficiency and the flexibility to meet a very wide range of applications."

PSU's offer superior performance and reliability.

High power density convection rated AC-DC power

SL Power Electronics (SLPE) has announced the launch of the NGB SERIES of high power density convection rated AC-DC power supplies.

Intended for applications including medical, industrial, audio broadcast and LED lighting the NGB series offers a wealth of application relevant features and is available in multiple formats and power levels including 250W, 425W, 660W and 1200W (with 150W & 800W being released soon), all with a single output from 12 – 56 Vdc.

Departing from the commonly used industry approach of optimising a design to require forced air cooling with fans, the SLPE NGB series offers customers increased reliability and eliminates acoustic noise. SL Power’s next-generation design focuses on optimising the convection rating performance and employs a scalable design strategy with highly customisable options including: enhanced digital monitoring and control, multi-output, cardiac float (cf), covers and fan covers.

Whether operating in a medical or industrial environment, the NGB series offers Class I and II inputs with the following attributes: high output stability across wide temperature range up to 50°C without derating, wide universal input voltage range from 80-264 Vac, high convection power rating (derated only at 90 Vac input voltages), lifetime extended by the use of >7year electrolytic capacitor life, Medical 4th Ed. and heavy industrial levels of EMC compliance meeting Class B emission levels with margins, approved to CSA/EN/IEC UL62368, IEC61326-1/UL60601-1, 3rd Edition and 3 Year Warranty.

Gary Baker, UK Country Manager for SL Power, comments, "By designing our new NGB series power supplies from the ground up we are able to meet the needs of today’s systems designers looking for high reliability and high output current stability over wide variations in operating temperature, which ensures the reliable performance of mission critical systems in medical, audio and Industry 4.0 applications."
