Innovative protocol analyzer and exerciser.

Teledyne LeCroy has introduced the Summit M64, a PCI Express (PCIe®) protocol analyser/exerciser to their product lineup. This cutting-edge system captures and generates PCIe 6.x, CXL 3.x, and NVMe 2.x traffic at speeds up to 64 GT/s with x4 link widths. The Summit M64 features a groundbreaking design that integrates a flexible host emulator adapter directly into the platform, eliminating the need for a separate test platform.

The Summit M64 addresses the complexity of modern PCIe, CXL, and NVMe design and testing with a comprehensive range of capabilities:

  • Combined Protocol Analyser and Exerciser: Operates with the integrated host emulator adapter or with direct connect device emulator card.
  • Full Exerciser functionality: Generates high performance 64 GT/s traffic for devices with link widths up to four lanes and includes standardised compliance test suites.
  • Versatile Analyzer Operation: Supports a range of Interposers for PCIe form factors, including Card Electromechanical (CEM), M.2, and Enterprise Datacenter Standard Form
  • Factor (EDSFF)/Open Compute Project Network Interface Card (OCP NIC).
  • Advanced Software Application: Controls the protocol analyzer to acquire, record, decode, analyze, and display complex high-speed PCI Express I/O streams, and features Teledyne LeCroy’s industry standard analyzer CATC Trace™ hierarchical display, real-time statistics, protocol traffic summaries, detailed error reports, powerful scripting, and user-defined test reports.
  • Realistic Traffic Generation: The same software application controls the protocol exerciser to provide realistic traffic, including programmable error injection, to devices under test and can also emulate complex host- or device-side traffic.

“With this introduction of the Summit M64, Teledyne LeCroy reinforced its industry leadership by providing a powerful platform to develop and troubleshoot the next generation of high performance PCIe devices” said Joe Mendolia, Vice President Marketing, Protocol Solutions Group, Teledyne LeCroy. “We are working closely with the computer industry to provide the analysis features companies need for PCIe storage, HPC and AI technology development. We are confident that engineers transitioning to PCIe 6.x will appreciate the rich library of decodes and analysis capabilities available on all of Teledyne LeCroy’s PCIe test tools.”

Partnership to provide most comprehensive PCI Express® 4.0 Test System.

Anritsu Company U.S. and Teledyne LeCroy have formed a partnership to provide the industry’s most capable PCI Express® 4.0 (PCIe Gen4) test solution, integrating the Anritsu Signal Quality Analyzer (SQA) MP1900A BERT with the LabMaster 10Zi-A oscilloscope and QPHY-PCIe4-Tx-Rx software from Teledyne LeCroy. This comprehensive system provides high-speed IC, device, and network engineers with one complete solution to conduct automated transmitter and receiver compliance tests, as well as link equalization verification.
The Anritsu/Teledyne LeCroy solution can be easily expanded to 32 Gb/s, making it the first end-to-end solution to address PCI Express 5.0 (PCIe Gen5) requirements. The system will also support PCI Express 3.0 (PCIe Gen3) transmitter, receiver and link equalization testing for complete PCI Express ecosystem coverage.

“Anritsu and Teledyne LeCroy share a common goal of providing engineers early availability of highly accurate and efficient test solutions required to verify their leading-edge designs. Our combined solution integrating the SQA MP1900A and LabMaster 10Zi-A oscilloscope fills the market void for a complete physical layer PCIe Gen4 test system that can be easily expanded to PCIe Gen5 as the market continues to develop technologies for high-speed networks,” said Paul Innis, Vice President and General Manager, Anritsu Company.

“PCIe Gen4 represents a significant test challenge for design engineers. Our collaborative test solution leverages two best-in-class instruments to accurately measure and validate product performance in accordance with the PCI-SIG standards. Recognizing that PCIe Gen5 is expected to emerge within two years, we have protected our customers’ investments by creating a clear and efficient upgrade path that will control test costs,” said Conrad Fernandes, Vice President of Sales, Teledyne LeCroy.

Best-in-Class Performance
A high-speed BERT that supports 2.4 Gb/s to 32.1 Gb/s, the SQA MP1900A can conduct highly accurate link training/equalization and Link Training and Status State Machine (LTSSM) analysis. It combines an internal pulse-patter generator (PPG) with integrated 10-tap emphasis and built-in high input sensitivity error detector (ED) with clock recovery, and variable 12 dB continuous time linear equalization (CTLE) and Link negotiation functions required for PCI Express receiver tests. Its ability to produce high-quality waveforms allows the MP1900A to conduct reliable jitter and noise tolerance tests.

The LabMaster 10-25Zi-A oscilloscope provides the necessary 25 GHz bandwidth for PCIe Gen4 transmitter testing and receiver test calibration, and may be upgraded in bandwidth to support next-generation serial standards at 32 Gb/s and higher. The LabMaster 10-25Zi-A and the forthcoming QPHY-PCIe4-Tx-Rx software option performs all necessary automation and control for PCIe Gen4 transmitter, receiver, and link equalization test in conjunction with the Anritsu MP1900A. Debugging of PCI Express interfaces is simple and intuitive with integrated eye diagram and jitter analysis tools and PCI Express decoding with waveform annotation and tabular analysis.
