DP Sensor.

Analog Microelectronics has a new bidirectional differential pressure sensor for ultra low pressures and thereby expands its digital board-level pressure sensor series AMS 5915 with I2C output.

The new AMS 5915-0002-D-B allows the precise measurement of extremely low differential pressure in a pressure range from -250 Pa (-2.5 mbar) vacuum up to 250 Pa (2.5 mbar) overpressure. The membrane based differential pressure sensor features a burst pressure of 200 mbar, is completely gas-tight and is especially suitable for ultra low pressure applications in the fields of industry, HVAC and medical instrumentation.

The board-mount AMS 5915-0002-D-B is digitally calibrated, linearized and extensively temperature compensated in a wide operating temperature range of -25 to 85 °C. It features a resolution of 14 bit and is ideal for system integration with its supply voltage of 3.3 V and I2C interface. AMS 5915-0002-D-B reaches a total error band (TEB) > 2 %FSO over its complete operating temperature range without additional zero-point adjustment at system level. Furthermore the combination of a high quality MEMS-element with a modern mixed-signal ASIC on a ceramic substrate guarantees excellent long term stability. With a reaction time of typically 0.5 ms the sensor is also suitable for fast measurements. AMS 5915-0002-D-B is available in two package variants: in a ceramic DIL package with vertical metal tubes for hose connection or without tubes for O-ring sealing (manifold mount).

For easy evaluation of AMS 5915-0002-D-B Analog Microelectronics offers a USB starter kit, which can also be used to program an individual I2C address. For operation with an Arduino adapter PCBs for Arduino Uno and Nano are available as well as an example code for Arduino’s integrated development environment.
